About 80% of Twitter employees (the social network is blocked in the Russian Federation at the request of Roskomnadzor) have been fired or left themselves since the purchase of the company by businessman Elon Musk, CNBC reports, citing data from the company’s internal records.
According to the data, Twitter’s full-time workforce has dwindled to around 1,300 employees, of which less than 550 are full-time engineers. At the same time, the department responsible for advising on company policy, design and product changes to ensure the safety of all Twitter users has less than 20 full-time employees.
About 1.4 thousand more employees are no longer working, but still continue to receive salaries. Many of them wrote letters of resignation after Musk sent out an offer to devote themselves to “hardcore” work on “Twitter 2.0”.
The channel notes that for many, the reason for the dismissal was the termination of the company’s policy of permanent remote work, which was introduced by the former head of Twitter, Jack Dorsey.
At the beginning of November 2022, CNBC announced the dismissal of 50% of the company’s employees.
