There were two gas and steam emissions from the Cotopaxi volcano, in the early hours of the morning of this Saturday, January 21.
As reported by the Geophysical Institute of the National Polytechnic School (EPN) at 06:21 there was an emission with a cloud height of 700 meters, while at 07:52 another emission was recorded with a cloud height of 1,300 meters.
In both emissions the direction is south-east.

In Ecuador, the Cotopaxi volcano is one of the four active ones, the others being: Reventador, Sangay, and Chiles-Cerro Negro, the latter limiting with Colombia.
The three volcanoes on yellow alert are Sangay, Cotopaxi and Chiles-Cerro Negro, and each one in a different temporality, and one on orange alert, Reventador.
The Geophysicist mentioned that due to the low activity of Chiles-Cerro Negro, weekly reports were no longer issued, but monthly reports will continue to be issued regularly.
In addition, in the event of any change, it will be informed in a timely manner.

In the case of Chiles-Cerro Negro, two drills have been carried out and one was a shared exercise with Colombia since it is in the border area, indicated the Secretariat for Risk Management. (YO)
