The fighting in Ukraine is a “new Patriotic war,” said Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, former President Dmitry Medvedev on his Telegram channel, commenting on a recent statement by Deputy Head of the European Commission Josep Borrell.
According to him, Borrell “remembered that our country defeated Napoleon and Hitler.” “Notice that he himself drew the analogy. Accordingly, the Ukronazis and Western Europe are the direct heirs of those who fought with Russia. And the war, therefore, is with them a new Patriotic War,” Medvedev wrote.
Recall that earlier Josep Borrell mentioned the wars of the Russian Empire and the USSR with Napoleonic France and Nazi Germany in the 19th and 20th centuries, saying that Russia is “a great country, a great nation that is used to fighting to the end.” Borrell also stressed that Moscow had “tremendous forces and the ability to continue”, and in this regard called for tanks and other heavy weapons to be given to Kyiv, arguing that “Ukraine must be provided with the necessary weapons not only to fight back, as they do, but also in order to return the land.
