During 2022, the Mariscal Sucre airport, in Tababela, in the northeast of Quito, registered 4.3 million passengers transported.

This, according to the company in charge of operations, Corporación Quiport, demonstrates a healthy recovery and is close to the figures generated before the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2019, before the confinement, restriction measures and closure of airports due to the coronavirus, this airport had registered 5 million passengers transported. That is, they currently maintain a recovery of 86.4%.
Quito would be the best connected city in Ecuador by air, with fourteen international destinations and eight internal destinations operated by fifteen airlines.

This year, in the capital of the Republic, it is expected to reach the traffic of 2019.
Ramón Miró, president and CEO of Quiport, said: “In 2023 we will have important news for the city’s connectivity. The pandemic hit air transport very hard, but it forced a rethinking of the sector and opened up very important opportunities that we are currently exploring and concretizing”.
Freight transport
Regarding cargo transportation, the figures are more encouraging, as announced by Quiport. During 2022, 290,677 metric tons of cargo were transported; this meant a record for this airport.
Compared to 2019, last year they had a growth of 19.4%.

239,109 metric tons were export cargo, which meant an increase of 17.9% compared to the figures for 2019.
