Since 2010, the Silueta X association, which is part of the National Federation of LGBTI Organizations (lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders, transsexuals and intersex), presents a report with the figures of murders that affect this community, from what it sees with concern that in 2022 the figure rose by 86% compared to that of 2021.
This increase has been constant since registration began. In 2010 there were only eight cases, in 2011 there were two, in 2012 there were seven, then the figure dropped to four and remained the same.
Diane Rodríguez, spokesperson for Silueta X, pointed out that since 2019 they have noticed a significant increase and since then the number has been rising, in proportion to the general murders recorded by the Police.

He explained that in 2018 there were only two violent deaths, and in 2019 the figure closed at sixteen cases. In 2020 there were 14, in 2021 there were 15 and in 2022 it rose to 25.
The victims of the previous year are sixteen trans women, four gay men, one trans man, two lesbians and two cis people (couples of trans women).
Rodríguez maintained that most of the cases reported last year were hitmen. There would be sixteen deaths due to criminal violence, while nine cases correspond to interpersonal violence. Most have died at the hands of their partners (transfemicides).
An example of this is the case of Karla Espinoza Loor, a trans woman who was stabbed by her partner on January 4, 2022 in the coop. Pancho Jácome, in the northwest of Guayaquil.
In the same area, on the road to Daule, the next day they killed 27-year-old Christian Llerena Nicola. He was gay and worked in the prison service. He was attacked with bullets minutes after leaving the Penitentiary along with his father.

In southern Guasmo, months later, they also killed a trans woman and her partner when they were riding a trike.
In La Troncal, province of Cañar, a similar case occurred: a trans woman and her partner were also murdered when they were in a taxi.
The report reveals that most of the cases have occurred in the coastal provinces: nine were in Guayas, three in Los Ríos, three in El Oro, and three in Esmeraldas; Santa Elena and Manabí register one case each province.
While, in the Sierra, there were two in Cañar. Cotopaxi, Tungurahua and Azuay each had one murder.
Silueta X plans the possibility of monitoring each of the cases to find out how the processes and investigations are going. Diane Rodríguez pointed out that many times there is impunity in the deaths of these minorities.
In 2022, nationwide, more than 4,400 people were killed; 332 were women. (YO)
