Two young people were arrested this Tuesday morning after they tried to escape after having robbed the passengers of line 121 on Juan Tanca Marengo avenue, at the height of Martha de Roldós.

According to witnesses, one of the passengers, seeing that an operation was being carried out in the Civil Registry sector, managed to get out of the unit and alert the uniformed officers of the Metropolitan Agents Corps (Cuacme) who were at that point, who asked reinforcement of the National Police.

The subjects tried to flee and threw two knives with which they threatened the passengers, in addition to other belongings that they advanced to take away from the citizens.

Bus passengers were nervous about the situation, indicating that they were insulted and hit more than threatened to kill them with the knife.

More than 300 femicides occurred in Ecuador in 2022, according to social organizations; in 6 out of 10 cases a firearm was used

Other citizens who were on the bus denounced that antisocials get on in the mornings and nights with both firearms and knives to rob passengers, especially all those who go to and return from work, for which direct operations were requested in buses.

National Police personnel carried out the report to take them into custody after taking the testimonies of those affected. (YO)
