José Eduardo Manzaba, 67, was killed with several shots. He was attacked by his assailants while he was in the doorway of his daughter’s house. There he was serving a house arrest, this because he was accused of murdering a man in August 2021.
At the moment of being attacked, Manzaba was in the doorway of his daughter’s house singing and with a guitar when he was surprised by several subjects. The hitmen arrived on a motorcycle. The event happened in the Valle Hermoso sector, in the west of Portoviejo.
The family and neighbors of Manzaba could do little to help the elderly man, who died at the moment of being attacked.
Manabí reaches 500 violent deaths: the last one was of a man who registered income from Central America, but has no trace of his departure from Ecuador
Manzaba was accused of murdering Luis Moreira García, in August 2021, when the latter allegedly claimed José Eduardo for allegedly cheating in a card game. Moreira was attacked with a knife and died instantly, while the police detained Manzaba.
Curiously, the crime against Moreira occurred on a Friday night, almost at the same time and day that Manzaba was shot.
Meanwhile, in the Olmedo canton, on Friday night José David Rubio Palma, administrator of a swimming pool in that Manabita canton, was assassinated.
Three people were murdered on Sunday night in Manabí
Rubio was a close collaborator in the political campaign of Fausto Avilés, a candidate for re-election to the Olmedo mayor’s office; Even the aspiring official to capture that municipal position again through his social networks regretted the attack.
“We totally reject vandal attacks that threaten people’s lives, tonight they just took the life of a great human being, a militant dedicated to this project for the people of Olmeda, such as the engineer José David Rubio Palma, we unite to the irreparable pain of all his family and friends,” Avilés said.
In the first thirteen days of January in Manabí there were 21 violent deaths. In 2022, 511 people died in violent acts. (YO)
