The two foreigners who were apprehended yesterday at the Onmi Hospital after the armed incursion have a preventive detention order.
The judge handling the case accepted the request of the Prosecutor’s Office and ordered preventive detention for Óscar FV and Carlos LV
One is Colombian and the other Venezuelan. They would be custodians of Carlos K., the man whom hitmen were looking to kill at that clinic in the north of Guayaquil.
“We heard a burst of shots, they asked us not to go out”: witnesses recount the moments of panic due to an armed attack in a Guayaquil clinic
The hitmen entered the clinic and confronted Carlos K’s guards. In the action, a man died in the hospital elevator.
The detained foreigners are prosecuted for their alleged participation in the murder registered yesterday inside a hospital.
Carlos K.’s guards were reportedly armed at the hospital, where they apparently agreed as relatives.
Carlos K., 35, was sheltered in that health home because on Friday he was attacked by hit men who intercepted him when he was traveling in an armored car through the Kennedy Norte citadel.
Carlos Omar K., the man whom hitmen were looking for in the clinic, has a history of extortion, drug trafficking, breach of trust and wrongful death
After the raid on the hospital, other hitmen fled. After the fact, the truck that would have been used in the criminal act was incinerated in the northwest area of Guayaquil. That unit would have been stolen to commit this fact.
The clinic pointed out that a group of people forced their way into the facilities and subdued the guard and health personnel.
“As a hospital, we comply with the security protocols, which unfortunately were violated by the armed violence of people who forcibly broke into the facilities in a group…”, he said in a statement.
After the situation, the hospital indicated that they activated the protocol to contact the 911 system, which allowed the displacement of the police to take control of the situation.
The Police investigate the activities of the foreigners who were armed inside the hospital and who acted as custodians of Carlos K., who registers cases in the judicial system in which he has been involved.
Omni Hospital indicates that it complies with security protocols, but “they were violated by armed violence”
After this episode, the hospital has reinforced the measures. “The unsafe conditions in general and the occurrence of these events have forced us to reinforce our systems to provide greater security to patients and staff working in the hospital,” he said. (YO)
