Seventh day to grow in generosity.
Generosity is the ability to give selflessly, it is the virtue in which love wins the race over selfishness.
It is in the generous delivery of ourselves that the depth of a love that does not end in words is shown.
And that is what we celebrate at Christmas: the unparalleled gesture of a God who gives himself. Saint Paul highlights this: “I hope that you will also be distinguished in generosity… You already know the generosity of our Lord Jesus Christ who, being rich, became poor for us, in order to enrich us with his poverty”.
It is a biblical passage in which the apostle invites the Corinthians to share their goods with those in need. 2Cor 8, 7 – 15.
We know how to love when we know how to share, we know how to love when we give the best of ourselves instead of just giving things.
Let us then make the best decision: give love, affection, tenderness and forgiveness; give time and give joy and hope.
They are the bonuses that are worth the most and do not cost money.
Let us give love, as Saint John of the Cross said: where there is no love, put love, and you will get love.
Prayer to the child God
Lord, Christmas is the memory of your birth among us, it is the presence of your love in our family and in our society. Christmas is certain that the God of heaven and earth is our Father, that you, Divine Child, are our Brother.
May this meeting next to your manger increase our faith in your goodness, commit us to truly live as brothers, give us courage to kill hatred and sow justice and peace. Oh Divine Child, teach us to understand that where there is love and justice, you are there and there is also Christmas. Amen.
