The German Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief (BBK) said that large-scale power outages in Germany are unlikely, RIA Novosti reports.
Thus, the department commented on the statement of the head of the BBK, Ralf Tisler, in an interview with the newspaper Welt am Sonntag, said that there could be short-term power outages in Germany in winter. According to him, we can talk about “a regional and time-limited power outage.”
In this regard, the agency issued clarifications that the German power supply system is “designed with numerous redundancies and has numerous safety mechanisms to stabilize the power system in the event of failures”, therefore large-scale outages are “unlikely”, and the likelihood of regional and temporary forced outages to further ensure reliability general supply is “considered low”.
The report also notes that Tisler mentioned such a scenario in an interview “to emphasize the fundamental importance of precautionary measures.”
Recall that earlier Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the German authorities had prepared for the difficulties caused by the lack of gas supplies from the Russian Federation, and ensured the security of the country’s energy supply.
