President Guillermo Lasso announced at noon on Tuesday that five new hospitals will be built in the country in 2023, as one of the measures to emphasize health care that is expected to improve this year.
The president went to the Government of Guayas as part of the first work meeting in the province called Meeting for Health. He indicated that he saw this work table as necessary because priority will be given to health in this year of Government, since “without health there is nothing.”
The meeting was also attended by Vice President Alfredo Borrero; the Minister of Health, José Ruales; the governor of Guayas, Lorenzo Calvas; in addition to several directors of the hospitals in Zone 8 (Guayaquil, Durán and Samborondón), among other officials.

Lasso commented that in this first health work meeting they will define new parameters to guarantee effective care in the medical centers of both the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) and the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS).
Lasso also added that this year he personally will go unexpectedly to hospitals to talk with the relatives of patients and patients to find out how care is being given.
He asked hospital managers for their efforts to provide better care in each hospital service, since he does not want to see the stories that are spread on social networks or the media due to poor care.

He added that this work plan will also address the provision of medicines, the analysis of the basic picture, among other issues related to the provision of drugs to patients.
He indicated that within this issue the pharmacy outsourcing service will be maintained, which began last July and it is expected that next March the implementation of the project within the MSP will be completed.
Other topics that are expected to be addressed this afternoon are improving the prevention and treatment of diseases such as diabetes, etc. (YO)
