What results were there in the 45 days of the state of emergency in Guayas, Santo Domingo and Esmeraldas? Police say there was “forcefulness”

The Government will not extend the 45-day state of exception that is coming to an end in Guayas, Esmeraldas and Santo Domingo.

The Police indicates that in this period, with the possibility of carrying out more operations and raids, key people linked to criminal organizations could be caught.

The police commander, Fausto Salinas, indicated that during this period of state of emergency, 144 individuals involved in criminal organizations, who were important targets, were apprehended.

Of this group, 99 have preventive detention, 40 have precautionary measures and five were released.

After the state of emergency in Guayas, Santo Domingo and Esmeraldas, the operations will focus on seven provinces

Salinas pointed out that the operations were very “forceful” to be able to capture these subjects, some of whom are involved in acts of terrorism.

This Thursday, on the news Equator at 7Salinas mentioned that in the 45 days of the state of emergency there were 9,124 detainees, 1,269 weapons seized and 39,214 ammunition.

Although the Government reports that violent deaths have decreased in some provinces, the general balance of the year will end with an increase in these deaths.

Guayaquil residents think that targeting control operations in seven provinces is positive, but more measures are required

So far this year there have been 4,300 violent deaths, almost 2,300 additional to those registered in 2021.

Salinas maintained that 83% of these deaths are linked to criminal violence. Of that percentage, 32% were due to previous threats and 40% due to traffic and micro-trafficking situations. (YO)
