The head of the Information and Security Service of Moldova, Alexandru Mustiata, accused Russia of preparing an “invasion” of the republic in 2023. About this, according to RIA Novosti, he said on the air of a local TV channel.

In his opinion, Russia allegedly intends to move on and plans to “reunite” with the Transnistrian region.

Mutze added that this is “a real and very high risk.” At the same time, according to him, he does not know whether this will be limited only to the territory of Transnistria. Musteata noted that the question is not whether Russia will decide to invade Moldova, but when it will happen.

The statement of the head of the Information and Security Service of Moldova was commented on by Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Addresscu. According to him, he sees no threat of a possible Russian “invasion” of Moldova.

Earlier, Moscow called on Chisinau not to aggravate relations with Russia.

Meanwhile, the Information and Security Service of Moldova clarified Musteata’s statement. The department clarified that he spoke about the analysis of several possible scenarios, one of which involves the Russian offensive through the territory of Ukraine. The release says that the director of the Information and Security Service noted that Russia’s goal of “creating a land corridor” to the Transnistrian region is relevant, and a “new offensive” of Russia in this direction may occur in 2023. Also, its implementation depends on the development of the situation in Ukraine, the ministry stressed.
