More than 600 Yandex.Food couriers intend to go on strike, refusing orders from December 20 to 25, Kommersant reports with reference to the Courier trade union.
Delivery workers in Moscow and St. Petersburg will reportedly go on strike. At the same time, the strike participants were also offered to “block the cash desks of restaurants in order to put pressure on Yandex partners.”
The trade union expressed dissatisfaction with the “monopolization of the industry” and the reduction in wages after the takeover by Yandex in August 2022 of the Delivery Club delivery service. Although the couriers receive periodic additional payments from the aggregator, the trade union demands a refund of 110 rubles. per order. Among the other requirements of couriers is a revision of the system of fines, the introduction of the practice of concluding labor contracts with them, as well as a reduction in the delivery zone to 2 km for foot couriers.
The press service of Yandex.Food told the publication that they had not received complaints from couriers working with the service. The company also added that the earnings of couriers this year increased by an average of 30%: deliveries receive about 350-450 rubles. in hour. December is also the month of “highest demand”, so couriers should earn more “due to increased demand for services, bonuses and multipliers,” the company added.
