After learning that a police second lieutenant could be linked to the process for the alleged femicide of Maria Belen Bernalthe Minister of the Interior, Juan Zapata, assured that the Prosecutor’s Office will be provided with the information it requires.
“By law, as a rule, we have to deliver what the Prosecutor’s Office asks of us, it even has deadlines,” Zapata said Friday night, at the end of an event with President Guillermo Lasso, in the Eugenio Espejo Police District, to the north Quito.

As part of the investigation into Bernal’s death, the Prosecutor’s Office requested to set a date and time for the hearing for sub-lieutenant Alfonso CV, who allegedly committed an omission related to the crime investigated. The diligence will take place on December 14, at 10:30.
The Minister of the Interior mentioned that around the case of the alleged femicide “there are three processes.” The first is of a criminal nature and is handled by the Prosecutor’s Office; the second is internal affairs with the police; and the third has to do with the cadets, who are not part of the Police, so it is handled internally by the High School.

In the early hours of Sunday, December 4, the Prosecutor’s Office made a reconstruction of the events at the General Alberto Enríquez Gallo Higher Police School, located in the Pusuquí sector, in the north of Quito.
