A man who works as a mediator and owner of a liquor store was released this Thursday afternoon, December 8, after being kidnapped for more than 24 hours in a house in the south of Guayaquil.

According to the authorities, the National Anti-kidnapping and Extortion Investigation Unit (Unase) of the National Police began the investigations after learning from the relatives about the kidnapping perpetrated at dawn on December 7.
On that day, the victim withdrew from his business in a vehicle and minutes later he was intercepted by men in another vehicle in the av sector. Rodríguez Bonín, diagonal to the headquarters of the Judicial Police.
This Thursday, at noon, anti-kidnapping personnel managed to verify that the vehicle immersed in the plagiarism was traveling along the Perimetral road, for which reason there was a pursuit in the Pascuales sector in the direction of the University hospital. In this operation, a person who would have participated in the kidnapping was found.
Minutes later, with this suspect, he moved towards an address in the south of Guayaquil where the victim was. There the man was found handcuffed and sitting in a chair used for barbershop work, indicated Fabary Montalvo, deputy commander of the National Police.
In a video shared by the Police, the entry of the police officers was evidenced when they found the victim who remained in a house near the Forestal Park.

The victim was taken to a health home for medical evaluation and for now the Police ruled out that he suffered some type of mutilation in his body.
Carlos Cuenca, a member of the National Police Unase, indicated that the person is undergoing the respective medical analysis.
The police chief of that unit indicated that the criminals were asking their relatives for $40,000. About them, he highlighted his contribution to denounce the case and give an effective response to the case and not fall into the delivery of the amount required by the antisocials.

Cuenca specified that the victim works as a mediator for the Durán Judicial Council and also has a liquor store on Portete and 13 streets, in the southwest of the city. Despite this, regarding the motivation of the case, Cuenca ruled out that it is related to extortion requests such as “vaccines”.
In this police intervention, the Police arrested a second person and also found other evidence such as weapons and ammunition.
Both suspects are Colombian nationals and have a history of drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons. They were left under the orders of the competent authorities. (YO)
