The US authorities have revised their assessment of the threat posed by Moscow and are no longer insisting that Kyiv not strike at Russian territory, the British newspaper The Times writes, citing a source in the Pentagon.

According to the source of the publication, the US military “still uses the same escalation calculations, but the fear of escalation has changed compared to the beginning (of the conflict). The situation has changed”.

The source noted that currently Washington is less concerned that UAF strikes on Russian territory could prompt Moscow to sharply escalate the situation. “We can’t tell them what to do. It is up to them to decide how they use their weapons. However, when they use weapons supplied by us, we insist only that the Ukrainian military follow the international laws of war and abide by the Geneva Conventions,” the Pentagon spokesman added.

At the same time, the military official clarified that this restriction means that Russian families should not become targets for the Ukrainian military. Washington also opposes the liquidation of specific individuals. “As far as we know, Ukraine follows these instructions,” the source of the newspaper claims.

Recall that earlier the German Cabinet said that Ukraine has the right not to limit its actions to its own territories, if it comes to self-defense.
