In Dresden, an armed man shot dead an elderly woman, and then tried to break into the Radio Dresden radio station. According to RBC with reference to local media, a 40-year-old man opened fire on a fire exit at the main entrance. True, he failed to get inside.

The radio station staff hid in a safe place and called the police.

When law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, the attacker drove away in a car towards the city center. There he ran into a shopping center and hid in the back room of one of the stores. The media indicate that the man took several people hostage.

Journalists wrote that the suspect is the 40-year-old son of a murdered woman whose body was found in an apartment building.

Subsequently, the police managed to detain the man. He was wounded, while the hostages were not injured, NTV reports with reference to the police. Law enforcement officials believe that the man may have a mental illness.

According to media reports, the suspect may be involved in another murder – a 62-year-old man in the Dresden district of Prohlis.
