Several sticks of dynamite were found at 12:30 this Tuesday, November 1, outside companies located near the Litoral Penitentiary.
The explosives were in a red car parked on a secondary street, a few meters from the road to Daule, at kilometer 16.5.
Sector police saw through the windshield the dynamite that was on a seat. They closed the street and notified agents of the Intervention and Rescue Group (GIR).
The explosives specialists checked the car and moved the dynamite to a vacant lot located in front of one of the largest companies in the sector, a company dedicated to the production and marketing of beverages and soft drinks.
There they carried out a controlled detonation with tires and sand to attenuate the shock wave.
In two hours the attacks were perpetrated in Guayaquil and Esmeraldas, which would be linked to the transfer of prisoners. This is the timeline of events
Minutes before, said company vacated its plant and hundreds of workers left the facilities to put themselves in a safe place. At least two more companies in the area evacuated the workers, while the GIR agents took the procedure.
The car in question was taken to the Criminalistics Laboratory around 2:00 p.m. to look for evidence, such as fingerprints, and identify those who left the explosive charge in that industrial sector.
Only during the early morning and morning of this November 1 there have been at least seven attacks with explosives in Guayaquil and Esmeraldas. Various police units, gas stations and even businesses have been attacked.
Pamphlets attributed to criminal gangs warned of attacks if inmates were transferred from the Penitentiary
In addition, two police officers were killed and two more were injured in the midst of armed attacks.
These attacks would be related to the transfer of inmates from the Penitentiary to other prisons in the country. This transfer of prisoners took place this Tuesday morning. Since 09:00 dozens of buses have left with some 200 prisoners from Guayaquil, as confirmed by the National Service for Comprehensive Attention to Prisoners of Liberty (SNAI). (YO)
