The European Union announced the launch of a program of non-lethal military assistance to Moldova. According to TASS with reference to the statement of the EU Council, 40 million euros will be allocated from the European Peace Fund for these purposes. The program is designed for 36 months.
According to the statement, the objectives of the program include expanding the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Moldova in order to strengthen its national security, the stability of the defense sector, as well as to increase the efficiency of the army and accelerate the implementation of EU standards. As a result, Moldova is expected to be better able to protect its citizens in times of crisis and emergency.
Under the program, the EU will finance the purchase of non-lethal equipment and equipment, as well as logistics equipment, vehicles, command and control equipment, cybersecurity equipment, unmanned aerial reconnaissance and communications equipment.
The European Peace Fund, which operates under the EU Foreign Service, also pays for general military supplies for Ukraine. Since February, he has allocated a total of 2 billion euros for these purposes.
