Thus, early attachment, from the first hour of birth, is one of the four strategies that are implemented in Ecuador to support breastfeeding to commemorate its world week.

The other strategies are the human milk banks that are in nine hospitals, the support rooms in the country’s institutions, and the support groups that focus their activities on open meetings.
According to the Ministry of Public Health (MSP), it is promoted as an exclusive and complementary food to reduce child malnutrition in newborns.
Breast milk, according to that State portfolio, is the most complete and healthy food, because it has more than 300 nutrients that children need to grow and develop healthily.
María de los Ángeles Urbina, administrator of the Las Casas health center, in the north of Quito, pointed out that the week of breastfeeding is being commemorated with the aim of making the community aware of the benefits of proper nutrition through breast milk.
One of those benefits, he added, when breastfeeding the child in the first hour of life, due to its properties, is the presence of immunoglobulins, which help prevent diseases and infections.
In addition, by creating this bond, it contributes to the psychomotor development of the infant.
At a fair, in the south of Guayaquil, the importance of breastfeeding was highlighted
“In the lactation support rooms where we teach, we direct, with a multidisciplinary team, on the correct technique of lactation, the way a mother breastfeeds her child,” said the official.
Urbina mentioned that it is recommended that the first six months of life be exclusively breastfed; then it will be complementary, and will continue until the minor’s life is two years old. (YO)
