How to care for insectivorous plants?

Due to the fact that these plants are unique, they also need such treatment. Here are some rules to make them grow beautiful:

  1. Insectivorous plants should be kept moist, but not wet. It is very important that the water for watering them is soft (hard water containing limescale causes white spots). A simple way to soften water is to boil it and let it cool down and precipitate at the bottom of the salt. Distilled water also works well.
  2. The site should be bright, but not sunny, usually with higher air humidity.
  3. For insectivorous plants, acidic soil (pH 3 to 5) is best. A mixture of peat or soil for orchids is recommended.
  4. Transplanting is a procedure that is performed every 2-3 years in the spring, when the plant’s roots begin to seep outside the pot and the peat they grow in will be compacted.
  5. It is also recommended that the plants stand on stands filled with water, which also increases the air humidity.
  6. In winter, insectivorous plants should be protected from overheating, i.e. they should not be placed near radiators.
