On ice, the circus of the Fuentes Gasca brothers returns to Quito after three years

The great traveling tent of the Fuentes Gasca brothers is presented in Cumbayá, next to Paseo San Francisco, with a magic show on ice, for a month.

Ángel Fuentes Gasca, from the fourth generation of this circus family, says that the big traveling tent had never been lowered, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it stopped for 20 months, which they spent in Quito, on land they leased for keep things going, but that the doors were opened in Nicaragua and they showed up there for two months and then they returned to Ecuador.

We tried to do an online show, but it wasn’t the same, because that affection, that affection from the public, that applause that we like so much, we didn’t have it, we didn’t have it for 20 months, that shout, that ovation from the public we didn’t have. , but thank God, today we are doing what we like the most: Seeing the children smile and not only the children but also the parents of the children who become children again under our big traveling tent, is something inexplicable, says Ángel , at a press conference in Cumbayá.

The rink will have sixty tons of ice, accumulating a thickness of one inch to perform a combined show between figure skating and the traditional circus, with a duration of one hour and 45 minutes, which includes more than twenty people on stage, including comedians, acrobatics , jugglers, tightrope walkers and skating.

The company of the Fuentes Gasca brothers, who have about a hundred circuses around Central and South America, has a tradition of healthy humor, which does not affect anyone, no double meaning jokes are made and no obscene words are used, says Angel.

The artists who participate in the functions in the traveling tent in Cumbayá are from Russia, Ukraine, Mexico, Argentina and for the first time an Ecuadorian skater participates.

I was skating and training at the CCI, they (representatives of the circus) saw me and asked me how long I’ve been skating, they took some tests and gave me this great opportunity, very nice, very cool. I feel happy, excited, says Camila Carrera, a young woman from Quito who participates in the performances of the Fuentes Gasca Brothers Circus.
