“Time” is a BBC production. Mark Cobden (Sean Bean) is a teacher, husband and father who killed an innocent man in an accident. He is overwhelmed with guilt and agrees and is even relieved to learn that he has been sentenced to four years. Separated from his family, he does not know what awaits him in a new, hostile place, where he will have to learn the art of survival very quickly.
Eric McNally (Stephen Graham) is a prison officer. A caring and honest Eric tries to protect inmates, which is a very difficult task in a prison where tension between the inmates is at its zenith. Sean Bean won BAFTA for Best Leading Actor for his performance in “Time”, and the production received an award in the Best Drama Miniseries category.
For Jodie Comer, her role in “The Help,” which is the TV drama by Marc Munden, has been acclaimed. This is the story of a relationship between a young nurse and a patient in a fictitious Liverpool nursing home whose life is changed by the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to BAFTA for Best Actress for Comer, Cathy Tyson was also awarded for a supporting role. The film can be watched on HBO Max, Play 24, Player and Polsat Box Go.
Stephen Graham with nominations but no award
Interestingly, both of these productions are linked by the person of Stephen Graham. The actor who played the guard in “Czas”, played the patient in “Pomocy”. He was nominated for BAFTA for both roles.
BAFTA for Best Drama Series went to “In my skin”, and “The Leitish Show with Mo Gilligan” was recognized as the best program or comedy series. Matthew Macfayden won the award for Best Supporting Actor. The awarded titles also include “Uprisiny” (the best fact-based film) or “Together” (the best TV drama film).
