Bono and The Edge, the singer and guitarist of the mythical group U2, have visited the capital of Ukraine to show their support for the Ukrainian people who have suffered from the Russian invasion since last February 24.
The best way to show solidarity with the country has been to go to the kiev metro, a space that has served as a refuge for the population that for months has sheltered there from Russian bombs and attacks. there they have held an impromptu concertaccompanied by some Ukrainian soldiers who have joined the performance.
The two members of the Dublin group have shared on their Twitter profile the surprise concert they have organized inside one of the underground stations. “President Zelensky has invited us to perform in kyiv in a show of solidarity with the Ukrainian people, which we have decided to do. Bono and The Edge,” they explained through the social network.
Among other songs, have covered the emotional theme of ‘Stand by me’, composed by Ben E. King, as well as ‘Desire’ or ‘With or Without You’. In front of them, a large crowd has gathered in the subway to enjoy a moment of happiness and relaxation in the middle of the war.
The two components of U2 have visited other areas of the capital and have taken advantage of the visit to ask for peace.
