This month the Paulsen Studio celebrates five years of existence and resistance, five years of making more than one viewer smile, cry, blush, reflect and intimidate. “This project has changed my life as a person, as a human being and as an artist. He is like a five-year-old son.”declares in conversation with this newspaper Marlon Pantaleonexecutive director and precursor of the Meisner technique in Ecuador.
Inspired by what he learned in New York, Pantaleón undertook a series of workshops in 2011 at the Teatro Centro de Arte, using this acting method. Given the demand and the need for continuous professional training, it was decided to open the Study. “Since now I have not stopped managing workshops with various teachers from the United States, Spain, Peru, Argentina. It is a bridge that I have wanted to create, an international platform, where children can realize that what they are going to learn here is of universal application”the actor points out.
“Our objective is to train talents, train actors, spread an acting technique, propose/present a different contemporary theatrical formation”, Add.
Around 100 students have gone through the professional acting process, already adding four promotions. “The boys receive acting classes with the Meisner technique, they receive scenic body classes, voice classes, drama classes. The idea of the Paulsen Studio is that the boys come out with a complete training and can develop, gain experience in the medium, be it in the theater, cinema or television”, Pantaleon explains.
This is how some of those trained in the Studio have been part of the scenic proposals that have been presented in the place. “It is a job opportunity for students. It is also so that they feel that their work, that their investment of time, energy, economic investment and their dreams are being taken into account here at the Studio; and in this way a community of artists is created, to which we can go and with whom we can work”, He says.

In the context of the celebration for the five years of the Paulsen Studio, the students of the fourth promotion of the Actoral Training program They will make two samples of short plays, directed by the head teacher Raul Sanchez McMillan.
The first function will be this Friday and Saturday with an original story, from Vanessa Vizcarra. The work addresses some social issues such as gender violence, the search for answers and the need to heal. Students will act Carlos Joshua Vera, Sofia Donoso, Joshua Galarza Y Thais Hurtado.
