New videos of the deadly accident during the filming of the movie ‘Rust’ released by the New Mexico Police show the moment in which actor Alec Baldwin was told that the shot that hit cinematographer Halyna Hutchins ended his life.
“I have very bad news to tell you,” the woman in the interrogation room told him. “She didn’t make it” He then told him, to which the actor responded moved with a “No!”.
The authorities have also released a video in which the actor can be seen Alec Baldwin rehearsing with the revolver that killed Hutchinsas well as the moments after the fatal accident, when the emergency services tried to save the life of the victim.
The Santa Fe (New Mexico’s capital) sheriff’s office has also published images of the actor speaking with an officer moments after the fatal shot. “I’m the person who had the gun at the scene,” said Baldwin, who was outside the filming building.
“Are you okay?” the agent asked, to which Baldwin did not hesitate to reply bluntly: “No, actually I’m not.”
After that brief chat, the officer explained to the actor that he should go to the sheriff’s office for an interview. In a video of more than 20 minutes, Baldwin is seen talking to the officers. The actor said that he did some takes before shooting, and noted that each time he assumed it was a “cold weapon” for rehearsal.
“I draw the gun slowly. I turn and bring the gun into firing position. Bang! Hutchins hits the ground. Souza (Director of the wounded film) falls to the ground screaming. It’s like… ‘Jesus Christ'”, pointed out the actor in that interrogation.
“It’s supposed to be a cold weapon… This is a puzzle for me… This is making me very excited.” Baldwin pointed out to the officers.
