The general director of Osalan has assured that “a job has to be safe above all and we all have to work for it”.
The CEO of Osalan, Lourdes Iscar, believes that occupational risk prevention “is failing because we are lowering our guard”. Interviewed on Radio Euskadi’s “Boulevard”, Iscar stated that “all accidents are preventablewithout breaking the chain”, for which he has appealed “to each and every one of those who are working and have responsibilities to do their homework.
In this sense, he assured that “a job has to be first of all sureand that all the links in the chain have to work for it”. In this context, he said, the Osalan awareness campaign on occupational risk prevention is framed, which begins this Thursday, in demand “zero accidents”.
According to Osalan, six people have lost their lives as of March 31, 2022. “All fatal accidents, even minor ones with the possibility of being serious, are always bad newswe have to continue working so that this does not happen”, he lamented.
As for the criticism from the trade unions who accuse Osalan of wanting to hide fatal accidentsIscar has affirmed that “there is not a single hidden accident and that serious accidents, even minor ones, are accidents that happen and must be investigated”.
In this sense, he explained that Osalan records only the occupational accidents that occurred in Euskadi and “we investigate all the people who die in our community, but we only register the registered parties, because it is the only way to keep the accounts well.”
Mask
Iscar has advocated using logic and common sense when wearing the mask in the workplace. “It is true that we are doing better, but in the work centers we continue to insist on use logic: If there is a place where several people gather and there is no ventilation, we recommend that responsible use of the mask “.
