When I was 18, the Guayaquil Symphony It was the first orchestra in which Ana Tamayo De Mora singing. After 20 years, she returns to them from a different position. On March 11, Tamayo was appointed as the new executive director of the OSG, which is under the baton of teacher Dante Santiago Anzolini.

artistically known as Ana Passeri, affirms that he assumes the executive management with responsibility, commitment, humility and affection. He says that one of his purposes is to take the orchestra to other places, beyond the Civic Center Theatertheir main home.

“We want to go to other places, and for that a lot of management is needed so that the Orchestra can mobilize, so that it goes to other sectors and other places, to serve the community, to approach and respond to the needs of the community , bringing you music”details the director and artist, who says that the reason for being of the orchestra is the public.

“It is about diversifying culture, it is not about acculturating, because people have their own culture from where they come from. It is bringing different musical languages ​​closer to people”, Add.

His mission goes beyond Guayaquil, he says. “Our idea is that the Guayaquil Symphony Orchestra becomes a regional orchestra (…), that we can approach the least attended cantons to bring our musical proposal“, Explain.

Another axis that arises as director is the diversification of the repertoire in concerts, since in addition to academic music, it is committed to the transformation of popular music into symphonic language. “We are working hand in hand with Maestro Anzolini to make the repertoire very varied, with a great intercultural nuance, to recognize ourselves as different, to recognize ourselves as Ecuadorians”point.

This same line of diversity awaits in the audience. “We are looking for a new market niche, where we try to bring orchestral music to young people, so that they can understand the nature of what it means to make orchestral music”mentions.

He assures that for this year’s programming proposals will be presented that merge the orchestra with other branches of art. “We have several activities scheduled that are linked to opera and musical theater”announces.

The next OSG concert will be on March 25 at 7:00 p.m., at the Josemaría Escrivá church, on the road to Samborondón.

‘I have not 100% abandoned my facet as an artist’

years ago, Ana Tamayo It was artistically baptized as Ana Passeri, referring to the songbirds. Due to her current job position, she introduces herself with her real name, however, she expresses that there is no distance between the two. “It is the same person who has managed many things; she is the same Ana Passeri working for culture. The stages of Ecuador and the world have seen her shine as an actress, singer-songwriter and producer. However, she knows that every goal is a challenge. “I had to make a very important decision at the time I agreed to take over the orchestra: to understand that, whoever covers a lot, squeezes little”, she points out.

“As an artist, I’ve always told myself: ‘I’m not going to do anything I don’t love’ (…). This opportunity is linked to my personal growth”Add.

In this way he returns to cultural management, since previously was the national director of Musical Arts of the Ministry of Culture and Heritage; and, on another occasion, was Communications Manager of the Social Protection Program.
