A performance by the artist Itziar Okariz and the presentation of a set of works by Nestor Basterretxea outside the museum will commemorate tomorrow, Tuesday, April 26, the twentieth anniversary of the opening of the Artium contemporary art museum in Vitoria.
The museum of the Alava capital has also announced that admission during the months of April and May is free to commemorate this event. In addition, a group of friends from this exhibition center will record a video entitled “20 years, more than 20 reasons”.
The Artium wants to focus the celebration of the 20th anniversary especially on its collection, with a series of actions that will take place over the coming months and that will culminate with the opening next January of a new exhibition on its own funds.
This Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. the artist Itziar Okariz will offer a performance entitled “Chapter 2, VW”, in which he will repeatedly read an excerpt from the book “A Room of One’s Own” by Virginia Wolf and in each repetition he will delete a word.
Lastly, at 7:00 p.m. a visit to four works by Nestor Basterretxea which will be installed outside the museum. It is, as explained from the Artium, four large-format sculptures, made of steel and polychrome, which by their appearance refer to traditional steles.
