On Friday, April 22, it hits theaters Venicephreniathe new film by Bilbao director Álex de la Iglesia which, “from farce and with a grotesque tone” deals with a real problem that plagues many cities: mass tourism.
In Venicephrenia, whose script he signs with his regular collaborator, Jorge Guerricaechevarría, De la Iglesia tells the story of five tourists (Ingrid García Jonsson, Silvia Alonso, Goize Blanco from Bilbao, Nicolás Illoro and Alberto Bang) who arrive in Venice ready to enjoy the famous and crowded carnivals of the city of canals. But once there, the young people will have to face the wrath of a group of citizens who, tired of being ignored, are determined to put an end to gentrification and the throng of tourists by any means.
“Terror is perfect for telling things without being noticed,” defends De la Iglesia.
