Alava-born director Esti Urresola will participate in Cannes Critics’ Week

Esti Urresola, author of the award-winning short films “Polvo somos” and “Paperezko ahotsak”, among others, will show her latest short film, “strings”in which EITB participates, in the Cannes Critics’ Week, a parallel section to the French film festival, which will be held between May 18 and 26.

“Cuerdas” tells the story of a women’s choir. The group is in danger of dissolving because it has lost the municipal subsidy. However, one of the largest companies in the valley, highly polluting, has offered a tempting sponsorship to the group that would mean the salvation of the formation. The women will have to decide whether or not to accept the company’s offer.

The Cannes Critics’ Week offers a selection of short films and first or second feature films by different filmmakers with the intention of showing the public and critics the greatest emerging talents of the moment.

Urresola is also working on his first feature film, “20,000 species of bees”, in which EITB is participating.
