The Compostela group Carminha Newsmade up of Carlangas, JarriXavi G. Pereiro and Ferreira, has announced a indefinite hiatus through their social networks, after 14 years and five albums. As this punk band with a garage sound has explained, they need “to take a breath” and “gather strength”.
“After so much intensity and so much energy (there are no vacations in rock) we feel the need as a group to see everything in perspective,” they say in their message on Instagram. They also ensure that they are very grateful to life, the public and fans” and leave the open door to a possible return.
In the message they take the opportunity to make it clear in their case not a business strategy, which many artists use as a commercial stimulus. “We are not going to do farewell concerts for this stage as if we were tonadillerxs, nor will we try to get the dough out of you with a live album or a compilation. Word.”, explains the band.
“Hopefully, we can see each other again. And if not, there are our records. We are colleagues forever and ever, we love each other very much, we love you very much and you know: always greet us,” they conclude in their farewell.
