– The album is the culmination of everything that has been accumulating in me for a long time. For several years, me and my friend, as well as the album’s producer, Michał Kush, reached each other musically until we caught a wave that carried us to create what started to surprise and enjoy – said Daria Zawiałow in 2017. – The songs are varied and yet consistent. There are moments of joy, cheeky playfulness, and even lamentation, despair or manifesto.
“Shoo!”. Electronic and guitar, sharp and cool – this is how Daria Zawiałow made her debut
Daria Zawiałow became famous not only for her powerful voice, but also for the ability to write ambitious and full of poetic lines of songs. Combined with thrilling vocal interpretations, they were an intriguing announcement of the arrival of a new female voice in Polish alternative music. – Not all the texts I wrote speak of me. Sometimes I tell a story. The character of the whole is added by guitars recorded by co-composer Piotr Rubik and I must admit that I was often inspired by their sound. So the album is both electronic and guitar. Spicy and cool. I hope that everyone will find a place for themselves here – said Zawiałow.
Daria herself claims that she sings for herself, her husband and loved ones. What if what he creates also reaches other people, if this creativity makes these people happy? – It will be a beautiful story – the singer concludes. The album “A Kysz!” was hailed as one of the best Polish albums of 2017. To date, 30,000 copies of Daria’s debut have been sold, and the album quickly covered with gold. The material was also awarded two Fryderyk in the category of Debut of the Year and Album of the Year – Alternative. On the occasion of the anniversary, a vinyl edition of the album “A Kysz” is released, produced on a transparent, 180-gram vinyl with a new cover.
Since her debut, Daria Zawiałow has gone an extraordinary path – in five years she released two more albums, “Helsinki” (2019) and “Wars and nights” (2021), she was a member of the Meskie Granie Orkiestra project twice, she recorded songs for films and series. This year she has ten chances to win the Fryderyk awards, and in April she will make her debut as a dubbing actress in the anime film “Belle”.
