At the beginning of 2022, the government project “New Deal” entered into force. One of its parts are various discounts for the elderly. What are these discounts and who can take advantage of them? We present 3 savings opportunities for seniors.
Discounts for seniors 2022 – free medicines for people aged 75+
One of the most important things for the elderly is medication. Seniors aged 75 and over may receive a prescription for free medication. These are drugs used in the treatment of old age diseases, such as heart and circulatory system diseases, glaucoma, Parkinson’s disease, and osteoporosis. How to take advantage of drug reimbursement for people aged 75+? First of all, at least one day must pass from the 75th birthday. Then we report to one of the following people for a prescription:
- GP (GP),
- specialist doctor – in this case it is necessary to have an Internet Patient Account (IKP),
- geriatrician,
- hospital doctor,
- POZ / hospital nurse – authorized to issue prescriptions,
- retired doctor of any specialty – only for himself, spouse, cohabiting person, relatives or relatives).
Discounts for seniors 2022 – exemption from fees for RTV subscription for seniors
Another relief for seniors is the exemption from RTV subscription fees. This relief is valid in several cases:
- in the next month after the 75th birthday (e.g. birthday is May 5, the relief is valid from June),
- from the age of 60, if a given person has acquired the right to a pension not exceeding PLN 2,459.09 gross – in other words, it may not exceed half of the average remuneration in the previous year.
- for persons entitled to allowance / pre-retirement benefit,
- for people who have been granted Carer’s Allowance.
How to get exemption from fees for RTV subscription?
To do this, go to the post office, where you must fill out a special declaration (it is available at the post office). At the same time, you must show your ID card and the decision from the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) indicating the amount of the old-age pension in a given year. Instead of a ZUS decision, one of the following documents may be presented:
- retirement slip,
- award decision,
- information on valorization.
Note – in the month in which we submit the application, you must still pay the RTV subscription. The discount is valid only from the next month.
Discounts for seniors 2022 – Polish National Senior Card
The last type of allowance for seniors in 2022 is the National Seniors Card. It can be used by those over 60 years of age. This document entitles you to take advantage of discounts throughout Poland. Nationwide, it is honored in 2,500 different places. The rules of the entire action are available here -.
Where can you use the National Senior Card?
The most common places that offer discounts on this document are:
- sanatoriums,
- health resorts,
- clinics,
- offices,
- health promoting institutions,
- cultural institutions.

- Download and print the form (from the MANKO Association website) –
- Fill out the form, attach an empty envelope with a stamp (so that MANKO can send the card)
and send it to: MANKO Association, os. Urocze 12, Krakow 31-953.
Those seniors who live in the cities / communes participating in the Senior Friendly Commune Program of the Manko Association can obtain the card at their place of residence.
