Sonia Manzano will be honored at the Poetry Festival, which will be held this Monday

On Monday, March 21, the International poetry day. Regarding this date, the poet, narrator and pianist Sonia Manzano Vela will receive a tribute at the Poetry Festival 2022a cultural meeting that will take place in the Pedro Carbo hall of the Municipal Library of Guayaquil.

“We believe that she is one of the most important poets, not only in the city, but in the country. She has been a teacher in every sense: she has known how to spread, support, review and present books by young writers”mentions Augusto Rodriguezpublisher of The Operating Room Editions, entity that organizes the literary meeting together with the Municipal Library.

“Let this be a reminder to the authorities and the Government that he deserves the Eugenio Espejo award”adds about the writer, who in 2020 was a candidate for the award, in the category Creations, Accomplishments or Literary Activities.

The tribute to the author will be the opening act of the party, which will begin at 11:00.

This meeting will be made up of poetry readings, murgas and music, activities that will take place on a day whose scheduled programming will last until 5:00 p.m.

Among the writers who will participate are Tamara Mejía, Siomara Spain, Betsabé Letamendi, Sigrit Delgado, Madeline Durango, Juan León Morcho, Daniel Cantos, Rafael Méndez, Lisbeth Piloso, among others. In addition, there will be the intervention of the Ensemble of the Museum of Popular Music.

Admission to the Poetry Festival is free. It will take place at the museum, located on Calle Sucre, between Chile and Pedro Carbo. (I)
