A mirror can be found in every bathroom, and certainly in every home. You have to wash them every now and then, and this generates a very common problem – streaks. Fortunately, there are ways to get rid of this problem. Here are the best methods.
What to wash the mirror with so that there are no streaks? List of homemade preparations
For effective cleaning of mirrors, you can use special preparations designed for this purpose. However, there are also other, much cheaper methods. Here is a list of homemade mirror cleaners:
- soapy water – it’s the easiest way to get a perfect mirror. With this mixture, wash the mirror with a paper towel and leave it damp. Make sure there are no stains and then wipe with a dry towel,
- potato and denatured alcohol – the first way to get a clean, streak-free mirror is… a potato. Cut it in half and rub the mirror with the half of it. Then make a mixture of water and denatured alcohol (proportions: 1 portion of denatured alcohol to 6 portions of water), soak it on a paper towel and wipe the mirror with it,
- black tea – it is a cheap and chemical-free method for a flawless surface. Brew a few teabags in about half a liter of water. Sprinkle this mixture on the mirror and wash it. Finally, wipe dry with a cloth or paper towel;
- cola – yes, just Coke. It is good for cleaning toilets, but also for mirrors. Soak a cloth in it and wipe the glass, then wash the cola with water only. Finally, polish with a microfiber cloth,
- vinegar (spirit or apple cider) – mix in a ratio of eg 1 to 5. You can also add essential oil for a nice fragrance. Simply wash the mirror with such a mixture.
- ethyl alcohol (spirit) – in this case, watch out for the frame, because you can destroy it. Pour 1 – 2 tablespoons of alcohol into 5 liters of water, sprinkle it on the mirror and polish,
- window cleaner + a few drops of glycerin – in addition to the absence of streaks, it will protect the mirror against dust deposition. As with vinegar, simply wash the mirror with the mixture.
- water + ammonia – method for more difficult stains, e.g. cream stains. The proportions are as follows: 1 tablespoon of ammonia to 2 cups of water. In this case, also just wash the mirror.
In addition to all this, the mirror can be cleaned shaving cream, gel toothpasteand even just a microfiber cloth dampened with water only.

In the above list of preparations, the concept of polishing has appeared several times. How to polish? First up and down, then side to side. What about? There are several solutions:
- microfiber cloth,
- tights – preferably old ones, which you won’t put on anyway,
- one-meter diaper,
- cotton children’s t-shirt.
