The work and memory of the writers Jorge Velasco Mackenzie (1949-2021) and Fernando Arteda (1945-2010) will be honored in the sixth edition of literary reel, to be held this Saturday March 19 in Guayaquil.
The activity, organized by the Our America Cultural Institute (ICNA), Its purpose is to strengthen creative cultural economies. “The reel aims to promote the creative and literary development of various authors, with the idea of strengthening the cultural and creative industries. In addition, it emerges as an environment that fosters debate and reflection on the literary production of the great authors of our country”it states Michael Cantos, director of the Cultural Institute of Our America.
Cantos points out that the central theme of the meeting will be Guayaquil daily life.“This suburban Guayaquil, from that politically invisible Guayaquil, but which is a Guayaquil that is in constant movement, vindication and showing its rebellious character,” expresses the also historian.
Poetry, music, literature and the plastic arts will be found in the same space with activities that go from afternoon to night. “All this mix that we have made is extremely interesting, so that adult and youth audiences can join the reel proposal”, says Cantos.
A literary festival is what is promised at this meeting. “For us, calling it reel means that we are working from diverse creative possibilities, and where we try to involve, invite and converge in various artistic sectors… it is to share what is currently being produced in the city”, Add.
The reel is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. with an engraving workshop; then, at 4:00 p.m., there will be a meeting with the creators of literary content on the internet, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.
at 17:00 there will be a panel in tribute to the work of Mackenzie, in charge of Cristina Velasco and Monica Murga. While the panel in tribute to Artieda will be at 18:00, with the intervention of his daughter Renata Artieda and Rodolfo Salazar.
An hour later, at 19:00, the author Christina Pomboza will present his poetry Witchcraft. The day will close with a concert that will be offered by the artists Cristina Figueroa, Orlin Montaño, who will give a marimba concert and DJ Quetzal (Angel Emilio Hidalgo), who will offer a Latin rock concert. The musical interventions will begin at 9:30 p.m.
