“Fucking Bornholm” touches on the subject of identity at a time when the patterns known to us no longer mattered. Crisis in a relationship, communication problems, fatigue with the expectations of others.
Director: This is a story about people’s struggle with their own nature, wrestling with convention
This is what Agnieszka Grochowska says about the film:
I liked the most and was fascinated by the fact that I would have a chance to play someone who frees himself during this strange, short trip to Bornholm. This is interesting because it is difficult – it seems to me that it is often the case that most of us never take a fight to find out who we really are except that we have specific functions towards other people.
The “Fucking Bornnholm” project has followed a unique path – first, a script was created, on the basis of which an audio series was made (Empik’s Bestseller). This one, in turn, was the basis of the book and audiobook. Finally, the feature film, the teaser of which we are presenting today, was shot. All these views are linked by the name of Anna Kazejak – co-author of the script, author of the book and director of the film version, who spoke about the project as follows when she was shooting:
I believe that there is a good chance to tell a universal, touching story about people’s struggle with their own nature, wrestling with convention. About responsibility for children and for the “other half”. The tone in which the film will be told is extremely important – light and at times funny. We want to place this story in the convention of drama-comedy, not heavy drama.
Today he adds:
I think that a book, an audiobook, an audio series, and a film are different elements that together can constitute a whole. But everyone can also take a piece and start exploring ‘Fucking Bornholm’ from a different angle. They are complementary, non-competitive and completely different.
The producer of the film is Friends With Benefits Studio. The co-producers of TVN, the West Pomeranian Film Fund and Empik Go. The film is based on the Empik Go radio play. Distribution in Poland: NEXT FILM. The cinema premiere is scheduled for May 6.
