Vilaró Restaurant closes its doors after 4 years of dinner shows with micro theater and live music

With a bit of nostalgia, but yes with triple the pride for having starred in the guayaca theater scene in short formathe says goodbye Vilaró Restaurant and Theaterafter four years of offering a billboard of humor and entertainment in the sector of the road to the coast with around 80 plays, 40 stand-up and tributes, as well as 500 nights of music.

His last day of activities is this Saturday, March 19with its latest performance as a micro theater and a triple Show musical that will cheer up its loyal audience until 01:30. “We are going to celebrate by toasting and singing with joy and high, thanking this communion that we were able to have with 4 wonderful years”, praises the director of the space, Alejandra González.

The closure of Vilaró is due to a family decision”, says Gonzalez. “As a family, we have another enterprise (the restaurant gentle Meats & Pasta) and a few months ago this decision had been made, which was not easy. We wanted to try everything, go for more,” he explains. “Before reopening last year, and starting in the pandemic, a series of reforms (in infrastructure) were made. we wanted to continue, that Vilaró did not close”.

What is going to happen now with the space is uncertain, because the premises are part of the Laguna Plaza shopping center (km 12.5 via the coast). “I think that another venture will surely come quickly, because we left a very good place. We hope that it will be to the liking of the people in the sector and we wish you the best, of course.”.

The founders of Vilaró treasure in this farewell incomparable memories that also marked milestones in the cultural scene of Guayaquil.

“Us we opened with two theaters and thanks to the boom in microtheatrefrom mid-2018 onwards, we had two more rooms that we later transformed into a multi-room”, illustrates the director.

In that space they celebrated Wednesday to Saturday, from December 20, 2017dinners shows a spectacular product and very little seen in what had to do with micro theaterwith sold out tickets and serving à la carte dishes to more than 50 people at the same time”.

One of those shows was the one of Ernest Acher a composer, comedian, multi-instrumentalist and conductor, best known as one of the members of Les Luthier. The skits of renowned comedians David Reinoso, Flor Maria Palomeque, the muffler and Tomas Delgado, the neighbor, also paraded in the rooms of Vilaró with dates sold outAlexandra adds. “We can add Jose Luis Arevalo, a dinner that was repeated several times because it was sold out”. As well as other great exponents of acting.

Among the renowned talents that animated Vilaró’s theatrical nights, González also wants to highlight writers and screenwriters who were part of the house, such as churo Aveiga, Monica Carriel, Ronald Bustamante, Ernesto Landin, Jose Rengifo. And among the directors, Fabo Doja, Santiago Carpio, and especially Luis deSousa and Jeff Nietohighlights the manager of the place, who put their mark on these four years.

Vilaró’s big farewell begins this Thursday 17th and ends on Saturday 19th March, with the last performances of microtheatre The mother who gave birth to usWith the performance of Karen Pelaez and written and directed by Jeff Nieto. It is a monologue that addresses the aspects that women experience during motherhood. Tickets: $7.

In the space called ‘artistic courtyard’, Andres Garzon and Jomahira Ganchozo with the work With my ex there is no paradise. This Friday the 18th at 10:30 p.m. Entry $10. At 11:30 p.m. the place will instead light up with live music from Neneica Luzardo.

On Saturday there will only be stagings of micro theater, at the usual times 19:30, 20:30 and 21:30. All those who buy tickets for the short plays, on any of the dates, will be offered a glass of house wine.

Finally, on Saturday he will celebrate his last Show musical with triple presentationwhich closes at midnight with Maleny Rondón, house artist.

If Vilaró will continue his activities in other scenarios, Alejandra says no, for now. “We have learned to say never say never, but it is not in the plans to continue anywhere else in the city.”

In that sense, González takes the opportunity to point out that it is his wish that interest in artistic activities continues to grow in Guayaquil. “You have to educate children from an early age, take them to the theater so that ‘that little bug’ wakes up. And second, that there is more support from the authorities to the artistic community in general to promote that and generate new spaces.”
