Russians don’t believe their own families. “They have televisions instead of brains”

– I have played in various countries – in Poland, Finland and Belarus. It is known everywhere that it attacked Ukraine, our house, of which we are very proud, begins his speech Oleksandr Kyrylenko, which was published in the form of a video on the website of the Ukrainian federation.

Kyryłenko is a former handball player, a representative of Ukraine, whom Polish fans may associate with playing for SPR Stali Mielec and Spójni Gdynia. He ended his career three years ago, after which he returned to his homeland. Now he is in Zaporizhia, a city in the south-eastern part of Ukraine, which is near besieged Mariupol, but which also receives Russian bombs all the time.

– What can you tell the Russians? That if they have televisions instead of brains, it is impossible to convince them – Kyrylenko spreads his hands. – That is why, first of all, he would like to thank us, the Ukrainians. To our armed forces, territorial defense, but also to the inhabitants of Kherson, Mariupol and Melitopol. It’s very hard for them now. But I believe we will win because we are together. Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes! – Kyrylenko concludes.

Kyrylenko is not the only Ukrainian athlete who not only defends his homeland against the Russian invasion, but also helplessly watches the Kremlin propaganda. – At the beginning I still talked to my parents, but now we have stopped. They don’t believe me. Even the fact that they were shooting at me, that I was under the bullets. They watch TV in Russia and see everything completely different. That we have fascists, Nazis and plunder – a former Ukrainian international and a footballer who lives in Ukraine but was born in Russia, where his parents stayed.

Russian propaganda depicts the war in Ukraine falsely. Vladimir Putin himself does not even call it a war, but a special operation. Unable to win at the front, he tries to defeat Ukraine at least on his own television, where he persuades people with all his might that.

But this is nothing new, because for years, among others, the – a former Russian chess player who has long predicted Putin’s moves and warned that he was a threat to the whole world.

Kasparov also looks for problems in the functioning of the state in the society itself. The fact that many people really believe in the regime’s history served to citizens by the only righteous authority. – There is also a large group of people who pretend to believe the authorities out of fear. And then there are those who may or may not believe it, but their ambition and attitude to survive, and especially to prosper, push them to demonstrate their faith in false narratives.
