Nominations to the Eagles 2022 and an anti-war appeal

Who else stood out? Wojtek Smarzowski’s “Wesele” was nominated nine times and Łukasz Ronduda and Łukasz Gutt’s film “All Our Fears” received seven nominations. The film “Because there’s sex in me” was nominated in three categories: Best Female Leading Role (Maria Dębska), Best Supporting Male Role (Borys Szyc) and Best Set Design (Wojciech Żogała). Maria Dębska for her role as Kalina Jędrusik has already been awarded at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia and nominated for the prestigious Zbyszek Cybulski.

The beloved “In-Laws” brought nominations for cinematographer Michał Englert for cinematography and for director Kuba Michalczuk in the Discovery of the Year category.

During the conference, the Polish Film Academy announced the STOP RUSSIAN WAR! Campaign. The President of the Polish Film Academy, Dariusz Jabłoński, announced an appeal to all filmmakers around the world STOP RUSSIAN WAR!

In it, he addressed the Ukrainians, saying that their country is today the heart of Europe and is fighting for Europe, and the Russians, expecting their courage in protests against the war. – Dear Ukrainian friends! You are fighting for our defense, for the future of our civilization. We have no doubts that today the heart of Europe is in Ukraine. It is not you who must deserve Europe, we must show that we deserve the Europe you defend. You have won Europe for yourselves, with your dedication, dedication and courage – said Dariusz Jabłoński.

In connection with the appeal, the representatives of all Polish film organizations present at the conference, who from the first day of the war work together and in solidarity to help Ukraine and Ukrainian filmmakers, raised cards with a bloody inscription on the Ukrainian flag: STOP RUSSIAN WAR!

The President of the Academy called on everyone to stop being invisible in their protest, to perpetuate their opposition in photos with a STOP RUSSIAN WAR! and posted it on social media. He also encouraged to send a protest, above all, to politicians and authorities and demand from them actions that could immediately stop the murder of Ukrainians.

The announcement of the appeal was attended by representatives of all Polish associations that stood up for Ukraine and Ukrainian filmmakers from the first day of the war: Dariusz Jabłoński (Polish Film Academy), Alicja Grawon-Jaksik (Polish Audiovisual Producers Chamber of Commerce); Jacek Bromski (Polish Filmmakers Association), Natalia Grzegorzek (Polish Producers Guild), Marta Szarzyńska (Young Producers Section of the National Chamber of Audiovisual Producers), Tomasz Wolski (Polish Documentary Directors Guild); Marcin Piątkowski (Polish Association of Editors); Agata Strużyńska (Union of Film Professions); Krzysztof Rak (Screenwriters’ Guild); Jacek Borcuch, Kinga Dębska, Katarzyna Klimkiewicz, Magnus von Horn, Wojciech Smarzowski, Agnieszka Smoczyńska (Polish Directors’ Guild); Pola Guźlińska and Dominika Dylewska (Guild of Makeup Artists); Izabela Kiszka-Hoflik (Women’s Film Association), Bartosz Piotrowski (PSC – Polish Society of Cinematographers) and Mariusz Wilczyński (director, Eagle Laureate for Best Film 2021).
