Natalia Kondratiuk-Świerubska, Gazeta.pl: Zodiakars are girls and women who are very interested in astrology, horoscopes and magic. You are one of them. Recently, this term has become very popular. What do you think it results from?

Michelle Brustad, known online as the Zodiacar of Gutter: The signs of the zodiac and astrology have been very fashionable in recent years. Especially among the young people of the Z generation. Our grandparents or parents usually turned to religion. We, on the other hand, are increasingly running away from it. Not all of them, of course. However, I can clearly see that a large proportion of young people are looking for some kind of spiritual path other than religion.

In addition, there is a lot of interest in tarot.

Yes, it seems to me that it is influenced, among other things, by the fact that astrology or tarot were not explored that much by older generations. I think that we, like religious people, are looking for some explanation for our life, we are looking for its meaning.

Are those involved in magic or astrology generally atheists?

Not necessarily. In my opinion, astrology is also a kind of faith. For example, I believe that the universe directs us and that the systems of the planets influence our lives. So I am replacing the vision of God with the vision of the universe.

For many people it is very similar. I had a friend in high school who was very “into” the signs of the zodiac, and at the same time considered herself a believer.

Yes, it is possible, because one does not have to exclude the other.

How does your interest in this subject affect your life?

Once, when I was just starting to be interested in it, my approach was almost maniacal. For example, I was able to end an acquaintance because I knew that our signs did not match. Now, of course, I don’t do that anymore. Funnily enough, most of my relatives are people who theoretically shouldn’t fit me. That is why I keep a healthy distance to it and treat it primarily as a great entertainment.

When did you get seriously interested in horoscopes and zodiac signs?

For as long as I can remember, I really liked this subject. As a little girl, I read horoscopes in my mother’s newspapers, asked family members about their zodiac signs, and made my first analyzes. When I was older, I started looking for explanations in books and articles.

And now your Instagram profile devoted to this topic already has over 33,000 followers!

I didn’t expect it to grow so much. I mainly describe the signs of the zodiac. I think this is interesting content especially for beginners who are just starting their adventure with this subject. This should not be confused with professional horoscopes which are very time consuming and much more difficult.

Who is doing this?

This is a job for professional astrologers. Such a person needs to know what is currently happening between the planets, how it affects our well-being, and what can happen to us as a result. In Poland, it is not as widespread as, for example, in the United States. There, many astrologers have clients that they accept, such as fairies.

And what does such a person do?

A professional astrologer can, for example, accurately write out a birth chart, i.e. a natal chart. Thanks to this, we know the position of the planets and the signs of the zodiac at the time of our birth. Interestingly, no two horoscopes are the same. Thanks to this, we can really learn a lot about who we are and what is written for us.

I have to ask you about an issue that often discourages many people from using horoscopes. Why can two people of the same zodiac sign be completely different from each other?

This happens very often. It is influenced even by the month in which we were born. For example, the April Rams may be completely different people than the March Rams. However, even more important are other signs in our natal chart. When creating my posts, I often remind people to pay attention to what sign they have in the moon or in the ascendant. Interestingly, many of my readers only then begin to agree. I myself am a great example of this. As a Sagittarius, I did not identify with this sign for most of my life. On the other hand, in the moon I am a Virgo. And the characteristics of this sign fit me much better.

How can we check it? For example, I have no idea what my lunar sign is. And I have heard all my life that I do not fit the stereotypical Cancer.

There are currently many calculators on the Internet with which we can calculate birth horoscopes. Please state your date of birth, place and time. Thanks to this, we learn what sign we are in the moon or what our ascendant is.
