The oldest citizens were not left out by the government in the construction of the tax revolution it turned out to be. However, apart from the tax sphere, there are also other privileges waiting for seniors. Many of them have been in force for years, but not all retirees know that they can take advantage of them.

From 2022, the so-called . In the first case, the largest pensioners with the lowest benefits. Pensions up to PLN 2,500 gross are exempt from tax. PIT-0 can be used by seniors who have not decided to receive benefits from ZUS for the sake of continuing their professional work. The tax exemption will apply to their annual income up to the amount of PLN 115,528 (PLN 85,528 of relief + 30,000 tax-free amount).
Discount on medicines and free medicines for seniors. Who are they entitled to?
The criteria for seniors who wish to obtain vary greatly. Medication relief is part of that. Therefore, it is due to persons who have a disability certificate, have been granted a pension for total or partial inability to work, a training pension or a social pension. It is settled on the basis of the difference between the expenses incurred on drugs in a given month and the amount of PLN 100.
Free medications are available under the medications 75+ program. As the name suggests, they are entitled to seniors after the age of 75 and covered by health insurance. The list of free drugs is listed by the Ministry of Health, and additionally, they must be issued by a doctor on a prescription with the symbol “S”.
What other discounts are there for seniors in 2022?
Pensioners can benefit not only in the tax sphere. With them in mind, many programs have also been created, i.e .:
- free travel by public transport – when moving around the city by public transport, some seniors are entitled to discounts on journeys of up to 50%. In many cities, free travel has also been introduced, but it has been in force since a certain age. Most often, this limit is 70 years, but depending on the city and carrier, it may vary slightly,
- no fees for RTV subscription – seniors over 75 are automatically exempt from fees. This privilege is also available to people over 60 who receive a pension with a monthly value not exceeding half of the average salary. However, this fact must be reported to the Polish Post office,
- Nationwide Senior Card – every senior after the age of 60 can obtain the so-called senior card. Thanks to it, you can get many discounts to points all over Poland. We are talking here not only about cultural institutions, but also sanatoriums, health resorts and rehabilitation clinics.
