The production opens this Friday, October 29, at the Park Fest. It will have a next edition in November in Vilaró, on the way to the Coast.
Most women (and men too) have a ‘group’ of friends. Those inseparable people with whom you celebrate an achievement, mourn a loss, share memes in WhatsApp chat and with whom you plan the special dates of each month throughout the year. They are usually duets, trios, quartets, it does not matter how many friends are but almost all of us have those inseparable people.
Those soul mates (triplets in their case) turned into friends are the actresses Prisca Bustamante, Ruth Coello and Maribel Solines. They met on stage in the eighties, sharing tables in different plays. On the professional path, theatrical and / or television productions made them frequent companions and later life made them friends. Now, not only do they share the coincidence of being mothers of men, having the same age and similarity of tastes, but they are also the protagonists of Women without rules the stand up comedy produced by Rompekbezas and directed and starred by all three.
“We would get together to talk, suddenly we started making TikToks, making videos and suddenly there was an organic need to create together. Also, what united us and it seemed important to convey was that when we were together we had fun and it was organic, spontaneous. We also wanted to tell people our age that life is not over and that we have to move on, ”says Coello.
“I met Maribel in 86, in Bernarda Alba’s house, and Ruth for the second edition of Bernarda, it could be around 88 more or less (…) The three of us are the same age, all three of us have had sons, we are actresses, there are many coincidences. Besides, I have already worked works with Maribel and others with Ruth, it’s like that good chemistry on stage we also have in real life, we get along well on stage and in life as well ”, adds Bustamante.
“It doesn’t mean that that’s why we are the same, we have super different thoughts, but at this age, maturity surpasses anything. I invent myself, when you are younger you fight and don’t talk to each other, you fight and even block yourself with friends, here you can disagree and argue but then you can continue talking normally ”, Ruth Coello.
The show lasts around 50 minutes and will have a single function at the Park Fest, in the Guayaquil Historical Park. “We will talk about sex, old age, surgeries, self-esteem, singleness in adulthood, marriage, there are parts in which the three of us interact and others in which we are alone,” says Bustamante.
The show starts at 20:00. Entry fee $ 10.
“We believe that this stand up cannot stay here, this will open the door and we believe that many women and men will want to know how we live at this age. Women without rules can attack and counterattack, ”says Coello.
At an older age, I change roles
In their social networks, the trio joked in a video that unlike their early years, the roles that come to them changed and it is the characters of mothers-in-law, grandmothers and mothers who predominate. For Bustamante, the situation is indifferent to him, he assures that it has never taken away his sleep.
On the other hand, Coello emphasizes that “the industry that is small in the country does not manage to understand that the stories are not only in the young women who are 20 or 30 years old, if I explain myself, that there are many other stories that you can tell and that is Another of the things that we liked when we were together, we said to each other: hey, can you imagine the number of women our age, who are already free, independent, who do not have dependent children and who would like to see what we do and what happens to us ”. He adds that they do not rule out developing a web series with this theme. (AND)
