Little Adam and big Adam are the same person, but they don’t really like each other. Netflix presents Project Adam with Ryan Reynolds

Adam Reed (Walker Scobell) and Adam Reed (Ryan Reynolds) are trapped. Together, they must travel into the distant past to find their father (Mark Ruffalo), take control of the situation and save the world. Working together, both young and adult Adam will come to terms with the loss of their father and get a unique chance to heal the wounds that shaped them. Lest it be so easy, the two Adams discover that they actually don’t like each other – to save the world, they first have to think about how to get along.

“Adam Project”. What if you go back to your teenage years?

“From our first meeting on Free Guy, it was clear that Ryan and I had great creative chemistry, not only as director and actor, but as production colleagues,” says Shawn Levy, director of Adam Project. – We both like to take on material that we can improve, and we persistently look for ways to do so. Ryan cares about his projects as much as I do. We have become like brothers – emphasizes the filmmaker. When asked what most captivated him about screenwriter Jonathan Tropper’s idea, Levy says:

The thought caught me: what if we could come to terms with our own history? What if we could come back as adults and make peace with our younger self and with the parents we didn’t understand? What if we could reconnect with them having a much greater life experience? Often, when we think back to our parents, we tell ourselves a lot ourselves. I saw them either as ideal people or as enemies. But the truth is quite different.

– For me, it is a story about the relationship between a father and a son who find a new path to each other. I think that for many people, the greatest dream come true would be a chance to say goodbye to their mother or father from where we are now in life, adds Ryan Reynolds. – I identified with this story; she brought out something completely new in me. I have a tendency to dodge my sensitivity, but here the story was grounded in such a way that I couldn’t do otherwise.

Until recently, Scobell, who plays 13-year-old Adam Walker, had only roles in high school performances in his acting resume. After the casting director noticed him, the golden ticket to the set of the movie was ensured by the fact that he had memorized all the dialogues from “Deadpool 2” not long before. – I think it took me longer than normal life to watch these movies. At the last audition, I was so stressed out by meeting Ryan that I wasn’t able to speak until we started recording, recalls the teenager.

Jennifer Garner, who played the mother of the title character in The Adam Project, points out that Walker really tried to get into Reynolds’ shoes. – There were times when he said, “I’m not sure how Ryan would say that.” Back then, he and Shawn had called Reynolds, and the children were literally crawling on him, but he always made time to help. Ryan and Walker took turns reading the line until they found the right intonation. It was amazing to see how their relationship developed and how it became a vital part of the project, says Garner.

The cast also includes Zoe Saldana as Laura, Adam’s wife, and Catherine Keener as Mai Sorian, the inherent villain who puts adult Adam on fire during his journey through space-time. The authors of “Projekt Adam” hope that for the next generation of viewers their film will fulfill a similar function to “ET” or “Return to the Past”. You can find out on Netflix from March 11 to find out if there are any prospects for this.
