The US Supreme Court rejected the request to reverse the release of Bill Cosby after being sentenced for sexual assault

The US Supreme Court dismissed this Monday the request to review the decision of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania of annul the prison sentence for sexual abuse that weighed on the comedian Bill Cosby.

The American High Court included in the list of issues that the Montgomery District Attorney made in November of last year will not hear (Pennsylvania), Kevin Steele, to reverse Cosby’s release.

The 84-year-old comedian was released from prison on June 20, 2021 after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned a judge’s 2018 sexual abuse conviction that made him the first celebrity jailed in the era of the ‘MeToo’ movement. The state court determined that a previous civil agreement invalidated the judgment for which Cosby was convicted and which caused him to spend two years in a prison near Philadelphia.

The actor was sentenced in 2018 to a maximum of ten years in prisonof which he had to serve at least three, for having sexually assaulted the Canadian in 2004 Andrea Constant. The victim was then Temple University women’s team basketball coachwhere Cosby studied and to which he was a major donor.

During the trial, Constand recounted how Cosby, whom she considered her friend, invited her one night in early 2004 to his mansion in the town of Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, and gave her some pills that made her dizzy.clouded his vision and prevented him from defending himself against the comedian.

More than 60 women have accused Cosby of sexually abusing them between 1960 and 2000, although those cases did not prosper because they had prescribed and only Constand’s allegations could be brought to trial.
