The Euskadiko Orkestra will premiere in its second program of the season “Urrutiko arimak” and “Urruneko azalak”, two works composed during the pandemic by Pascale Gaigne, renowned author of soundtracks with a Goya under his belt for the film “Handia”.
These two pieces are part of the concert program that Euskadiko Orkestra will offer between October 28 and November 4 at the Kursaal Auditorium in San Sebastián (October 28 and 29); on November 2 at the Teatro Principal in Vitoria; on November 3 at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao and on November 4 at the Baluarte auditorium in Pamplona.
During the pandemic, Gaigne proposed to the orchestra to write two works, each using half of the orchestra’s instruments and which can be played together or independently.
In addition, these two pieces can be superimposed and generate a third work that already has the complete orchestral template.
Under the baton of its assistant conductor Jaume Santonja, the Basque symphonic ensemble will include members of the Euskal Herriko Gazte Orkestra (EGO) and Musikene in its ranks and will offer, in addition to Gaigne’s pieces, a program focused on the discovery of new and infrequent music including Tchaikovsky’s first and third symphony, the lesser known.
