Ecuadorian film ‘Big Bang’ wins at the Medellín International Film Festival

big Bang it competed with seven other films from France, Spain, Italy, Chile, Mexico, the United States and Brazil, which were also nominated for the fiction category.

The film, which took almost twelve years to make, presents the story of Ni Pío, a man who is imprisoned after having snatched the tongue of the President of the Republic. From his cell, Ni Pío builds with his fingers a spiral of time that he traces on the floor with the dust that he extracts as he scratches the wall.

It is here that man embarks on a journey —in a symbolic way— to his past lives: when he was one of the Spanish conquerors who assassinated the Inca Atahualpa, or when he was in the shoes of one of the Roman centurions who crucified Christ, or even until reaching the time of Adam, in which the tree of paradise is bombarded.

The FestMedallo’s mission is to be a space for the projection and dissemination of films from all over the world, and it is a platform for sponsors of the world film industry to select projects and directors to finance them.

The festival recognized works in other categories, such as best documentary, best short film, best short documentary, best independent short, best student short, best music video, best web series, best screenplay, and special jury award. (I)
