The 45-minute act will premiere this Thursday, October 28 at Casa Zona Scene. It can be seen until October 30.
In 2016, the actor and also dancer Mario Suárez conceived Perencejo, a 10 minute show with a character type clown and satire, who played politics from his voice. It was a performance to experience the creation of a character, his body, voice and even makeup.
During the hottest months of the lockdown, to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Suárez artistically took advantage of this time to take up the staging and refresh it with the most current circumstances and “new energies”, clarifies the interpreter.
“Perencejo comes from ‘so-and-so, zutano and mengano‘, idioms to refer to a person without saying their name directly. In this case, other energies enter (such as these unnamed characters) such as a minister of state, a prisoner, a secretary and a judge ”, he explains. Because “a trial, whether they want to admit it or not, is a good show,” says Perencejo instead. “I am also working on schizophrenia a bit and what you see is a discharge of energy, which is a very big challenge as an actor ”, Suárez points out.
The act, now of 45 minutes, will premiere this Thursday, October 28 at 8:00 p.m. in House Zone Scene (Baquerizo Moreno 519 and Mendiburo, 1st floor). It will be appreciated until Sunday, October 30, such as the closing of the 24th edition of the Guayaquil International Performing Arts Festival, Fiartes-G. The entrance has a cost of $ 7.
In the direction is the renowned dancer and photographer Jorge Parra. “This work seeks to trigger a critical and satirical reflection, with a slightly disturbing humor, on the current state of politics,” he adds. “It is developed from the current political context that the country is experiencing: insecurity, corruption and deaths around the judicial and penitentiary system.”
